Our society is made up of two groups of people:  those with jobs and those without.  Many people with jobs are greatly over-worked, and those without a job are struggling to find one.  It is common practice in many organizations for employees to work much more than 40 hours per week.  Many people never get around to taking vacation.  They work at their job until they’re physically spent.  Because they feel needed or fear job loss in this economy, they are motivated to overwork.  Those without the routine of day-to-day work outside the home may struggle to maintain focus and a direction.

Professional Resumes – Best Left to the Professionals

Anyone can make a resume, but not everyone can make a good, professional resume.  Professional resumes can be difficult to make. The resume is a person’s first impression to a potential employer and that employer may be looking through hundreds of resumes to fill a position.  As such, your resume needs get the employer’s attention, impress them, and make them remember you.  Your resume is your first impression and you don’t want it to be your last. Resumes – Less is More

On the surface it would seem that resumes should be chock full of information. Especially if you have reached the executive level, a common trap that people fall into is to think that all of the history of achievement and experience needs to be put into their resume to display how accomplished they are and how much experience they have. Overwhelm them with breadth of your experience.  Sure, a lot of that information is important, but when you get to the executive level a lot of things are assumed by possible employers. To get to the executive level you have to have a pretty impressive past employment history.  They know that.  So, you need not mention every single thing that you ever did. (more…)
